POSITION SUMMARY:  Our client, a leader in the metal processing industry, was founded over 50 years ago and is headquartered in St. Louis with multiple locations across the United States.  They are seeking a Corporate Accountant to work directly with their Corporate Controller.  The role offers a lot of variety with primary responsibility to prepare financial and operational analytics to be used in managing the business.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform monthly key account review and analysis
  • Process month-end close activities including posting payroll and tax files, entering transactions and making journal entries
  • Prepare key account reconciliations, updating the capital file and entering fixed assets in BNA
  • Work with other departments to report month-end results and quarterly forecasts in Hyperion
  • Maintain the GL system and train other employees as needed
  • Update month-end files, monthly comparison files and track credit memos
  • Update daily cash files and prepare use tax returns, check requests and rental property invoices
  • Maintain accurate and timely financial records and reporting according to GAAP accounting and company policies
  • Research accounting issues and assist with internal control evaluations
  • Special projects as assigned

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in an accounting environment
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP and statutory accounting principles and procedures
  • Specific experience with income statements and balance sheets
  • Knowledge of manufacturing business trends, applications and concepts for relevant competitive analysis
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to take direction and contribute substantially to analytical and problem-solving discussions
  • Capacity to work independently in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; AS400 experience preferred
