POSITION SUMMARY: Our manufacturing client’s brand was created over twenty-five years ago and quickly set the standard for quality and consistency in their industry. The company was recently acquired from its parent company by a well-respected private equity firm and is now a stand-alone global chemical manufacturing company.

The Plant Controller is a complex, hands-on highly visible role covering multiple U.S. sites. Primary duties focus on maintaining the general ledger and ensuring the accuracy of financial statements for each location. This role works across all levels of the company and organization boundaries to achieve plant and corporate objectives. To be successful in this position, the right candidate will be engaged in the business and actively share monthly financial results.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage month-end closing and prepare financial statements and operational reports for site
  • Enter monthly accounting journal entries
  • Provide plant performance analytics including insights on material, labor, and overhead via variance analysis
  • Work with plant leaders and corporate accounting to develop annual budgets and periodic forecasts
  • Work with Operations on CAPEX ROI
  • Work will Engineering to maintain costed Bills of Materials
  • Identify opportunities to improve margins
  • Ensure compliance with SOX 404 and company policies
  • Work with external auditors
  • Other duties as needed

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting with minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • CPA or CMA strongly preferred
  • Cost Accounting experience preferred
  • Knowledge of SOX 404
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and legal documents
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Well-developed organizational and planning skills
  • Experience handling multiple competing tasks and meeting uncompromising deadlines
  • Ability to partner with the Plant Manager(s) to improve business
  • Ability to effectively communicate financial results to plant and corporate leadership
  • Experience using ERP systems (SAP experience a plus)
  • Occasional travel to other domestic sites (limited to quarterly)
